Not long ago, Daynes Music unveiled its beautiful Steinway Recital Hall.  Designed to provide a comfortable and intimate space for pianists, the Hall features a fully voiced and tuned 9’ Steinway Concert Grand on stage -- the piano of choice for 98% of all concert artists. Two piano events can also be arranged (see photos). The Hall seats up to 80 people in an acoustically designed environment, and has state-of-the-art recording facilities. We built the Steinway Recital Hall to provide the best possible resource and recital venue for local piano teachers, their students, and music professionals. Teachers play such an important role in the molding and training of students, and the Steinway Recital Hall is our way of thanking you for the vital role that you play. With great acoustics, recording facilities, and elegant surroundings, the Steinway Recital Hall at Daynes Music is widely acknowledged as the finest recital venue in Salt Lake City.

Scheduling
The Steinway Recital Hall at Daynes Music is available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings and can be scheduled up to 6 months in advance.  Scheduling is on a first-come-first-serve basis. An updated schedule for the Hall is available here. To check availability or reserve a day, please contact Carrie Taylor at Daynes Music via email or phone (801-566-6090), Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays. Since the majority of our success comes from the referrals and recommendations of teachers, we will always give priority to members and organizations of the UMTA (Utah Music Teachers Association), UFMC (Federation), Suzuki, music workshops, master classes, professional clinicians and other music teacher/student events.

Ongoing Programs
The following are some of programs that we offer for our teachers:

  • Piano Music Purchase Discount:
    For teachers who come in to purchase music for their studio or for their students, Daynes offers a 10% discount on all sheet music purchases. On UMTA teacher meeting days and special event days, the discount is 20%. Please note that the discount is for the time and effort that teachers spend choosing music – the discount is not transferable to students.
  • Piano Purchase Discount:
    Teachers who purchase pianos from Daynes Music for their studios will be offered a generous teacher’s discount.
  • Discounted Recital Hall Rental:
    The standard charge for the Steinway Recital Hall is $50.00 per evening. For teachers who hold their studio’s recital at our venue, we offer a discounted rate of $30.00 per evening. The fee guarantees the date and time requested and ensures that the piano will be tuned and regulated.  Also included is a complimentary recording of the recital.

New Programs
To accommodate even more teachers, we have initiated the following new programs:

  • Exclusive Recital Gift Certificates:
    At most events hosted by Daynes Music (workshops, conventions, and UMTA meetings) there will be an opportunity to participate in a drawing for a complimentary recital on an ‘Exclusive Day’ (Friday evenings or Saturday mornings). With the gift certificate you will also be able to schedule up to 12 months in advance.
  • Earlier Start Times:
    Previously, recital start times had been 7:00 PM. To allow more time for multiple recitals by the same teacher, or for two teachers to have recitals on the same day, Daynes is now accommodating recital start times as early as 5:00.  If you are currently on a waiting list, have a smaller studio, or are looking to book a recital on a previously booked date and are willing to have an earlier time, please contact Carrie Taylor.
  • Complimentary Recitals:
    As a thank you for teachers who either buy a Steinway product for their own studio or help one of their students purchase a Steinway product, we offer the use of the Recital Hall at no charge. These qualifying teachers will still be required to make the $30 scheduling deposit which will be either returned or applied to your music account after the recital. Contact the Daynes Music salesman that worked with you or your students to help schedule your recital date.

To broaden the use of the Steinway Recital Hall, we also consider the requests of outside sources to use our hall during daytime hours if they do not conflict with store operation. Such groups include book clubs, community councils, and civic clubs etc.
