How To Buy Used Piano

Step 2. Take a look around. Online or in-person, in either case, you’ll find grands and uprights (verticals) of all makes, models, and prices. And since you’re currently shopping on the web, know this: Daynes Music updates it’s web site at least once every week, so unlike many of the classifed piano ad sites out there, which often contain “stale” listings, everything you see in our online warehouse is current.
Step 3. Look at the “grades”. Before we offer a used piano for sale, it is thoroughly checked by our technicians, who, in our opinion, are the best in the business. Our technicians evaluate every major component on every piano, e.g., soundboard, hammers, keys, cabinet, etc., and we list their objective appraisals right on the site.

Step 4. Do your homework. Purchasing a piano is a big decision, so before you rush into it, we encourage you to do some research. Step back and ask yourself some questions, e.g., what kind of space can I alloate for this piano? How much can I afford? Who is this piano for: me, my kids, someone else, or all of the above? What kind of player am I right now, and what kind of player can I hope to be in the future? What are my tastes, musically and otherwise? Since having a piano in your home is one of the most powerful statements you can make about your personal goals and values, it’s important to do your homework.

Step 5. Reserve it. Now that you’ve found the perfect piano for you, ideally, the best thing to do is to come in and play it. However, that’s not always possible, especially if you live outside of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area, or out-of-state. Another potential problem is the fact that our used pianos come and go unpredictably. So as a solution, Daynes Music offers our exclusive and free “Reserve It!” service, which enables you to pick and hold your piano for five (5) business days, giving you the right of first refusal. “Reserve It!” gives you time to make your arrangements, e.g., further discussions, travel, etc., and during that period, nobody else can take your dream piano away from you.

Step 6. Buy with confidence. Every used piano that makes it to the floor in our warehouse is backed by a five-year warranty. In addition, we deliver anywhere in the USA. See our delivery map for rates. And, we’ll make sure your piano is tuned-up and ready to play after it has reached its destination. Daynes Music has held to the highest standards of integrity and reliability for almost 150 years. (that’s how one stays in a business like ours). Be assured that we will do our best to help you find — and enjoy — the piano of your dreams.
