The original Model A “Parlor Grand” was designed in 1878 by C.F. Theodore Steinway, and was further enhanced in 1896 extending the length from 6’ to 6’2”. This legendary piano revolutionized both the construction and sound of grand pianos worldwide.

Theodore Steinway is credited with many of the remarkable technical innovations of piano making, many of which have not been surpassed to this day. Between the years of 1868 and 1885, he was awarded an unprecedented 45 patents.
The Model A, not in production in the United States since 1914, has now been re-created with the most current Steinway patented improvements. Like all Steinway pianos, each Model A is meticulously handcrafted at the Steinway & Sons factory. And in terms of performance, history has repeated itself. Within its 6’2” length, the new Model A once again delivers the unmistakable Steinway sound with remarkable power, depth, and Richness.
