Skip Daynes, University of Utah Distinguished Alumni 2018

On March 8, 2018, at the Annual University of Utah “Founder’s Day” Dinner, held at the Little America Hotel, Salt Lake City, Skip was presented with one of the U’s highest honors, the Distinguished Alumni Award, 2018. Skip, who was nurturing a broken leg, gathered his strength, and hobbled up to the podium to receive the award. He was assisted by his wife, Susan.

Founder’s Day celebrates the founding of the University of Utah in 1850. Each year, the Alumni Association recognizes alumni and honorary alumni who have excelled professionally, served the local and national communities, and supported the university in its mission. Other 2018 honorees included:

  • Kate Conyers, BA’03 JD’08 MPA’08, felony public defender and public advocate;
  • Marcia Madsen, BA’72 (J.D., LLM), partner in a prestigious Washington, DC law firm, considered one of Washington’s top attorneys;
